Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Shok is a desktop app launcher for Windows. This policy explains what data the app and website collect, how it is used, and how it is stored.

What data the app stores locally

Shok stores the following data on your device only. None of this is transmitted to us or any third party:

Steam integration (optional, Pro feature)

If you choose to use the Steam Integration feature, you provide a Steam Web API key and your Steam ID. Shok uses these to make a request directly to the Steam Web API on your behalf to retrieve your library and playtime data.

System monitoring (optional, Pro feature)

If you use the System Stats feature, Shok reads hardware information (CPU load, GPU usage, RAM usage, temperatures) directly from your operating system using standard Windows tools. This data is displayed in the app and is never transmitted anywhere.

Payments — website (direct download version)

Purchases made through getshokapp.com are processed by Stripe. We store your email address and license key in our database (hosted on Supabase) solely to validate your license when you activate Pro. We do not store payment card details — those are handled entirely by Stripe.

Payments — Microsoft Store version

If you purchased Shok through the Microsoft Store, all payment and account information is handled entirely by Microsoft. We do not receive or store any personal or payment information from Microsoft Store transactions.

Data we do not collect

Children's privacy

Shok is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
